“Life is not a dress rehearsal. This IS the main event”
I heard this quote this week and it felt like a bucket of ice water bucket hitting me in the face.
Every day, like millions of others, I wake up, I follow the same routine.
Check off the to-do list.
Serve others.
Go to bed.
Repeat.
Repeat.
Repeat.
Until one day you wake up and you have a health scare, your kids don’t need that lift anymore. No one is home for your dinner.
Parts of work, some people, certain environments – deplete you more than they energise you.
And you question:
Who am I now, when I don’t have to be what others need of me?
Who am I now, if I did choose to serve myself?
What does my SELF even want?
These questions are too loaded to always know the full answer straight away.
But just by asking them, you will feel the pinch. The friction in your body.
That is what shines the light on the truth.
You want more.
Let that be the thought for the day.
The thought that maybe there is more for you, as there is for me.
And that today is a good day to think about what does ‘more’ look like, if that was a possibility.
Today, I will dare to imagine different possibilities. Will you?
